About the Instructors
Sensei Dagnan started training over twenty years ago in Solihull with the KUGB. Following an engineering degree where he represented Loughborough University in competition, he joined the ESA and attends international courses with Sensei Kase and the KSKA Shihankai to develop his karate.
Assistant instructor Yvonne Ward 2nd Dan (ITKF) has over twenty years of training experience, with regular training under Kawasoe and Akita Senseis.
Both have achieved karate coaching qualifications.

We teach Shotokan Karate, focussing on connecting correct body mechanics, with breathing and mental focus to deliver powerful techniques and develop a strong martial spirit.
Classes typically consist of warm-up, fundamental techniques, pair work, kata (patterns), kata applications against opponents and warm down.
Access to national and international courses and regular gradings with international instructors are available. The ESA host member only and open courses across the country.
